May 1st, 2025

Elkhart, IN — Heart City Health proudly served as a leading sponsor of the 2025 Go Red for
Women Luncheon hosted by the American Heart Association at the Lerner Theater in Elkhart.
The event united community leaders, healthcare professionals, and advocates to raise
awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among women in the
United States.

Lalaesha Black, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Heart City Health, was a featured speaker at
the luncheon. In her remarks, she highlighted the importance of championing women’s health
and the critical need to educate both women and their families about the risks and prevention of
heart disease.

“It was an honor to speak at the American Heart Association luncheon and share our
commitment to advancing heart health in our community,” said Black. “At Heart City Health, we
believe in the power of collaboration and education to drive meaningful change. Together, we
can create a healthier future for all.”

The Go Red for Women campaign is a national movement dedicated to improving women’s
heart health through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The luncheon featured
a powerful lineup of speakers, including Heart City Health’s Thalia Pachiyannakis, MD, FCOG,
moving survivor stories, and interactive experiences aimed at encouraging women to
prioritize their cardiovascular well-being.

More than 44% of women ages 20 and older in the U.S. are living with some form of
cardiovascular disease. Through initiatives like Go Red for Women, Heart City Health continues
its mission to transform that statistic-one conversation, one checkup, and one life at a time.
