At Heart City Health, we treat patients from the tiniest infant through adolescence. Our pediatric staff has years of experience caring for children just like yours.

Regardless of your needs, whether it is keeping up with an immunization schedule, school physical, or a sick kid visit, we know you and your children will feel welcome and comfortable at Heart City Health.

What is a pediatrician?

Pediatricians are professional doctors who specialize in doctoring newborns, children, and young adults.

What age ranges do pediatricians cover?

At Heart City Health, our pediatric team serves children from the time they are born through their 18th birthday. Some children with severe health issues throughout their childhood may need to stay with their pediatricians longer before they transition to a primary care doctor.

What does a pediatrician do?

Pediatricians perform a wide range of health services for children, including wellness checkups, immunization updates, physical exams for school and hearing and vision screenings while also advising on fitness, nutrition, and other important healthcare factors. Because we believe in treating the whole person, our pediatric services also include dental examinations and more.

When should I see a pediatrician versus a family doctor?

While family doctors receive some training in doctoring children, pediatricians are specialists in understanding the normal growth, development, and health concerns for newborns, children, and young adults. Many parents find extra comfort in seeing a pediatrician who fully understands the needs and nuances of children’s health.

When should I start seeing a pediatrician?

Oftentimes new mothers begin their search for a pediatrician while they’re in the last trimester of their pregnancy.
