ELKHART, Ind. – Heart City Health is pleased to announce the opening of another healthcare facility in the Elkhart community; a new women’s health office located at 1545 Cassopolis Street.
The brand-new Women’s Health office will offer primary care, obstetrics, gynecology. The CEO of Heart City Health explains the inspiration behind this important expansion.
“Indiana has one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rates in the country. This is unacceptable and we think we should do better, starting with the women in our own community,” Esleen Fultz said.
Between 2011-2015, Indiana had the seventh-highest infant mortality rate and the third highest maternal mortality rate in the country. About 700 women die of pregnancy-related problems every year in the U.S., at a rate of 17.2 deaths per 100,000 live births, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Those statistics rival some third world countries.
The mission of Heart City Health is to provide medical care for the whole person, regardless of their situation. Patients can expect a wide range of all-encompassing healthcare services in one convenient location.
“We accept most forms of insurance as well as offer a sliding fee scale for those without insurance. At Heart City Health, we feel that all women deserve access to high-quality healthcare regardless of age, race or financial situation and that’s why we will not deny care to anyone,” Fultz said.
The grand opening is scheduled for January 21st with an open house event taking place on February 5th for the general public.
